Holy Audacity, Batman!

“…it is easier to take much than little; it is easier to stand in a place of audacious trust than in a place of cautious, timid clinging to the shore.” —Streams in the Desert, March 28

As we face the global public health and economic COVID-19 crisis, we are being forced to adapt to extreme circumstances, to step out of our familiar grooves.

We are finding that we must seek new paths, must shift our thinking and be open to different and new ideas. While this can be stress-inducing, this can also be a great opportunity to widen our lenses and consider things that might seem “crazy.” Like the neighbors in San Mateo, dancing in the street to get their dose of social, physical connection!

Growing 10x is Easier than 2x

Despite the stressful times, you must keep moving forward. In fact, make bigger progress now than you otherwise might have.

As Dan Sullivan of Strategic Coach likes to say, 10x is easier than 2x.

  • 2x progress can be achieved by working harder to improve what you’re already doing. Remain in the comfort of your well-worn grooves, and you’ll just get more of the same.

  • 10x progress requires a fresh, higher level of thinking: new methods, new habits, new attitudes and mindsets, maybe even new people. People who approach things differently than you do.

Abandon too much, and your progress may topple.

You must thoughtfully discern which parts of the status quo must be abandoned. And thoughtfully discerning what needs to change and what needs to stay the same is easier when you have someone who approaches things differently than you to partner with on the thinking.

The Kolbe A™ Index: How You Handle Risk and Uncertainty

Have you ever taken the Kolbe A™ Index? It measures your natural, instinctive way of applying your striving effort. One component it measures deals with risk and uncertainty: the Quick Start action mode.

  • If you’re long on Quick Start, you are comfortable with and even thrive on risk and uncertainty.  And… you tend to underappreciate the solid, stabilizing elements in work or life that ground you.

  • If you’re short on Quick Start, you naturally reduce risk and remove uncertainties. And… you might maintain a tenacious, white-knuckled grip on your well-worn grooves.

  • But both of you can find the right path better, together.

As we push ourselves to new limits in this uncertain time, it’s important to identify your Kolbe A™ Index. How do you solve problems? How you handle risk and uncertainty? How can others help?

In our next blog post, we’ll be giving you access to take the Kolbe A™ Index at a discount. Stay tuned.
